  • What is Solid Surface?

    Solid surface is an extruded acrylic material, which typically comes by a 1/2” thick sheet. Solid surface material can be cut with woodworking tools and is joined together using a liquid form of solid surface, thereby making it virtually seamless. Solid surface can be used to make countertops, wall-covering, shower pans, sinks, and more.

  • What are Benefits of Solid Surface?

    Solid surface is a non-porous material surface, so will not absorb stains and does not allow for bacteria to grow, all without needing to be sealed. Additionally, it is one of the few materials on the market that is completely repairable if broken and can be refinished to an original finish.

  • Do You Only Offer Solid Surface Materials?

    No. Custom Countertops offers high-performance countertop alternatives in high-pressure laminate, Thinscape, and even butcher block. If there is another material you are looking for, we may have other options or recommendation for you.

  • Do You Only Do Work in The Willamette Valley?

    No. Custom Countertops is licensed to work in Oregon and offers services beyond just the Willamette Valley.

  • Does My Solid Surface Project have a Warranty?

    Manufacturers provide warranty on solid surface materials: Corian and Staron offer 10yr Transferable Limited Warranty; Wilsonart and Livingstone each offer 15yr Transferable Limited Warranty.
    In addition to the manufacture’s warranty, Custom Countertops, LLC will repair and work on any countertops we have originally installed.

  • Is Solid Surface Heat Safe?

    Solid surface is an acrylic material, so is affected by excessive temperature. It is advised to always use a trivet or pot-holder when setting a hot dish on countertops and always allow dishes to cool before setting into a solid surface sink.
    Additionally, if excessive heat is set on a seam for an extended period of time, or repeatedly over time, there is risk of seam separation that may not be covered under manufacturer warranty.

  • My Countertop is Scratched, What Do I Do Now?

    If your solid surface countertop has been is scratched, Custom Countertops, LLC may be able to refinish the surface to an original look or repair it if the scratches are too deep.
    If your countertop is made out of another material and is scratched, contact us to see what your options may be.

  • I Have a Solid Surface Cutting Board, Can I Also Cut Directly on My Solid Surface Countertop?

    It is not recommended to cut directly on any countertop surface, and doing so will cause scratches and cut marks on solid surface, laminate, and Thinscape.
    In fact, if your solid surface cutting board matches your solid surface countertop color, it could be used to repair a crack or break in your counter.

  • How Can I Clean My Solid Surface Countertops/Shower?

    Solid surface is one of the few materials on the market that is chemical-resistant, pH neutral, and bleach-safe. It is safe and okay to use solvents such denatured alcohol to remove pen marks or a sticky mess, and everyday cleaning can be achieved with an ammonia-based cleaner.
    Using a squeegee on solid surface shower walls following a shower will help keep water stains and soap scum from building up.
